Ryan Palermo
Currently residing in Philadelphia, Ryan grew up in Hamilton, NJ. Like most kids, he tried his hand at many different sports and hobbies, always keeping himself active. Graduating from Rutgers University in 2009 with a Bachelors degree in Finance, it was during his college years that he decided to move away from the traditional gym routine and try something new.
Ryan's first crack at an alternative style of fitness was in 2006, when he began training Mixed Martial Arts at a local school in Hamilton. He was looking for a new, challenging workout regiment, and a friend recommended MMA. After his first few classes, he knew he had found an amazing program.
Ryan found himself especially drawn to the Combat Conditioning classes that the school offered. These classes demanded high intensity movements during timed intervals (sound familiar?). Eventually Ryan joined the staff and became an instructor.
In 2012, he relocated to Philadelphia, where he continued his training. While in Philly, a CrossFit box opened up in the area and he immediately took interest as a student, as well as an assistant instructor. Fast forward to 2016 where Ryan is now the head coach at CrossFit Turbocharged and also an assistant instructor for Beacon MMA. He is especially proud of leading Turbocharged's first barbell club, Notorious BBC, as they prepare for their first official Olympic weightlifting meet.
Ryan is constantly furthering his knowledge of fitness, mobility, and nutrition, to become the best coach he can be. Outside of the gym, he spends his time with his 2 year old Lab/Pitbull rescue, Murphy. Ryan loves to surf and is a car enthusiast.
